This vein removal procedure is often used on veins that are too large to treat with sclerotherapy, but too small to safely use laser or RF treatments. The procedure begins with a tiny incision in the skin right above the vein. A small hook-like tool is inserted into the incision, gripping the vein and gently removing it from the leg. The incisions are so small, there is no need for stitches during the procedure and patients experience very little scarring afterward. The entire procedure can be done at the Incredible Veins Center, and most patients are back to normal activities the next day.
About Ambulatory Microphlebectomy
When you come into Incredible Veins for your ambulatory microphlebectomy, you will be given a mild sedative to help you relax for the procedure. A local anesthetic is applied to the leg and the areas for the incisions are carefully marked. Dr. Ebrahimi then makes the tiny incisions, removes the veins and then places a dressing over the incision site. Patients are encouraged to walk around immediately after the procedure, and will be asked to wear compression stockings for a few days afterward. Initial results are visible right away and will improve over the days following the procedure.
